Doing this Consistently will BOOST your Metabolism
Study after study proves that muscle burns more calories than fat. Period.
What does this mean? It means that the more muscle on your body, the more calories you burn at rest (sounds tempting, doesn’t it?)
Muscle tissue is more metabolically active than fat tissue, meaning that it requires more energy (i.e.: more calories, more food) to maintain. This is because muscle tissue is made up of cells that are constantly contracting and relaxing, which requires energy. Fat tissue, on the other hand, is made up of cells that are relatively inactive.
The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you will burn at rest. This is because your body will need to use more energy to maintain all of that muscle tissue. So, if you are looking to burn more calories and lose weight, building muscle is an excellent way to do it.
It is important to note that building muscle takes time, effort and consistency. You will need to strength train regularly and eat a healthy diet that includes plenty of protein (at least one gram per your current body weight, or goal body weight, if you’re wanting to lose 20+ pounds).
If you are new to strength training, it is a good idea to talk to a personal trainer or certified strength and conditioning specialist. They can help you create a safe and effective workout plan.
When you focus on building strength verses the number on the scale, the results come quicker - you’ll be surprised at how quickly the importance of the number on the scale drops once you start feeling STRONG.
