Jessie’s Story: From considering Ozempic and wanting to quit, to trusting the process after losing 52lbs
I was pleasantly surprised this morning when one of my clients (her passion is writing), offered to submit her story - while she doesn’t want me to use her real name or pictures, her story is SO relatable, and I think you’ll enjoy it.
Jessie’s story:
Okay, let's be real. If you're a busy, executive-level mom of three, you know the drill. It's a constant juggling act. Between board meetings, school drop-offs, hockey practice, and trying to remember if I showered today, my own health always took a backseat. And let’s not even talk about my weight. It’s been a lifelong battle. Decades of yo-yo diets, restrictive eating, and the dreaded "Monday restart." I'd be "perfect" all week, counting every calorie, then completely unravel on the weekend. Pizza, wine, the works. Then, the guilt. Oh, the guilt. It was a vicious cycle I couldn't break.
I was so confused about nutrition. All or nothing. That was my mantra. If I wasn't "perfect," I was a failure.
Building healthy habits?
Forget about it.
Consistency?
What's that?
Fitting meal prep and workouts into my already packed schedule?
Impossible.
Then there was the semaglutide buzz. Everyone I knew was on Ozempic. But something in my gut told me no.
I was terrified of the long-term side effects.
And I saw firsthand how quickly the weight came back – and then some – when people stopped taking it. I knew I needed a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. I wanted to feel good, not just see a number on a scale.
That's when I found Annie at All Day Coach.
Honestly, I was skeptical.
I'd tried everything.
But I was at my wit's end, and I needed help.
Those first few months? Ugh.
Frustrating doesn't even begin to describe it.
I wasn't seeing the quick results I was used to, and I didn't believe her when she said I could still enjoy my favorite foods in moderation. Crumbl cookies? A beer with my husband? And swapping my beloved Peloton for weights and walking?
It sounded too good to be true.
Annie kept telling me to focus on protein, single-ingredient foods, and speaking kindly to myself. Consistency, not perfection, was the key.
Slowly, things started to change. I learned to prioritize my health, not punish myself. I started to see small wins, and they added up.
Trusting Annie and the process of building healthy habits was the best investment I ever made, I almost quit after the first few months, but I committed to three more.
And then, I didn't want to stop. I wanted to stick with her for at least a year.
Now, one year later, I’ve lost 52 pounds and 35 inches. I've dropped four pant sizes and two shirt sizes. But more importantly, I feel strong and confident. I’ve built my maintenance calories up to 2,400, and I’m focusing on building muscle to look even leaner. I don’t feel food guilt anymore.
Annie's custom advice was invaluable. She used a variety of methods, recipes, and tools to fit my crazy lifestyle, and she went at my pace. I learned so much about nutrition and wellness. It wasn't just about losing weight; it was about changing my mindset and building sustainable habits.
My next goal?
Completing a mini-Ironman.
I never thought I'd say that. But after years of battling my weight and hating my body, I'm finally ready to embrace my strength and push myself to new limits.
And you know what?
I'm excited. I'm excited to see what I'm capable of, and I'm excited to live my life, not just go through the motions.
