Eat More of These to Lose Weight

That’s right - shift your mind and start focusing on ADDING things to your diet - not restricting. Personal experience, and experience with our clients shows THIS works.

What should you add to your diet?

HIGH QUALITY, single ingredient foods.

Think fruits, veggies, whole grains, PROTEIN … the closer the food comes from the ground, a plant, or an animal (carrots, tomatoes, meat), and the less processing that’s done to the food, before you shove it in your mouth, the better.

When you eat high-quality foods, like fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean protein, you're more likely to feel full and satisfied after eating. This more often than not results in eating LESS calories overall, which directly supports fat loss.
High-quality foods also have more nutrients. Nutrients are essential for good health, and they can also help you lose weight. For example, protein can help boost your metabolism and help you build muscle. Fiber can help you feel full and can also help regulate your blood sugar levels.
Processed foods, like sugary drinks, candy, and chips, are more likely to cause cravings. This can lead to overeating and weight gain. Our bodies were designed to run optimally on WHOLE foods, not processed junk.
Here are some tips for eating high-quality foods:
  • Choose whole, unprocessed foods whenever possible - trust us, it's not more expensive, and it doesn't take more time. Think about the last time you're in line at Chick-Fil-A or Taco Bell - how long did that take you?
  • Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Choose lean protein sources, like chicken, fish, and high quality protein powder.
  • Limit your intake of processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats.
It's also important to make sure you're getting enough calories. If you eat too few calories, you may not have enough energy to exercise or to perform your daily activities, and likely will lead to times of over indulgence. Deprivation (completely eliminating your favorite foods, or an essential macronutrient, like carbohydrates) more often than not will result in overeating.
If you're not sure how many calories you need to eat, or what you can add to your meals to make them more balanced, we'd love to work with you! Working with a certified nutrition coach can make all the difference!
