Why healthy fats are our friend

Healthy fats are important when you're trying to lose weight because they can help you feel full, reduce your appetite, and boost your metabolism. While it is common for us to hesitate, or feel "guilty" eating fat (thank you diet culture of the 1990s) - healthy fat will SUPPORT your fat loss goals.
Here's how:
  • They help you feel fuller for longer. Fat takes longer to digest than carbs or protein, so it can help you feel satisfied after eating - fat is SATIATING.
  • They reduce your appetite. Healthy fats can help to regulate the hormones that control appetite, making you feel less hungry.
  • They boost your metabolism. Healthy fats can help to increase the rate at which your body burns calories.

Here are some good sources of healthy fats:
  • Olive oil
  • Avocado
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Fish
  • Eggs
When choosing healthy fats, it's important to choose foods that are high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These fats are liquid at room temperature and are found in foods like olive oil, avocados, nuts, and seeds.
You should also limit your intake of saturated fats, which are solid at room temperature and are found in foods like meat, dairy products, and processed foods.
And you should avoid trans fats altogether. Trans fats are created when liquid oils are hydrogenated. They are found in some processed foods, (especially those with added sugar), like cookies, crackers, and fried foods.
By following these tips, you can make sure that you're getting the healthy fats that you need to support your weight loss goals. And, we're always here for you if you want a little extra encouragement, support and accountability!
